There really haven’t been that many movies about the nerd lifestyle — as in, about nerds, not for nerds. Five immediately come to mind: American Splendor; Dumb and Dumber; Real Games; Revenge Of The Nerds; Super Bad; WarGames and Weird Science.
But, here comes “Zero Charism” a hit at the most recent SXSW.
Here is the headline and some kind words from Indiewire,
Tribeca Film and Nerdist Industries Acquire Geek Comedy ‘Zero Charisma’
It has just been announced that Tribeca Film and Nerdist Industries have acquired and will release “Zero Charisma” together. The film, which premiered at SXSW earlier this year where it won the Audience Award in the Narrative Spotlight section, tells the story of Scott (Sam Eidson), an overgrown nerd who lives with his grandmother and serves as Grand Master of a “Dungeons and Dragons”-style fantasy board game. When a new initiate enters the geeky group, Scott finds his role as leader of the misfits put into jeopardy.
If you are wondering when you can get a taste. Zero Charisma hits cable and on-demand on October 8 and theaters on October 11. I can feel some gamer parties starting to well up.
